John W. Spotts

John W. Spotts, 91, of 321 California Road, Morgantown, died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Fairmount Homes after a brief illness.

Born in Morgantown, he was the son of the late Isaac H. and Minnie (Ziemer) Spotts. His wife, Jane (Sponagle) Spotts, died July 5, 1991.

John worked as a farmer for 25 years and later as a feed salesman for C. P. Wenger Feed Company in Ephrata until his retirement.

He was a member of the Churchtown United Methodist Church, enjoyed hunting small game, and hunting arrowheads.

Surviving is a son, John B., married to Ruth (Weaver) Spotts of Womelsdorf; a daughter, J. Elaine Garman of Ephrata; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and two sisters, Sara Weller of New Holland, and Jane Hartranft of Morgantown.

Preceding him in death are two brothers, George and Elmer Spotts; and four sisters, Hannah Oatman, Evelyn Oatman, Mary Reifsnyder, and Julia Haas.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 11 am at the Churchtown United Methodist Church, 2170 Main St., Narvon, with the Rev. Dr. James Bamberger officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday at the church from 9-11 am.
