Jonas R. "J.P." Petersheim

Jonas R. “J.P.” Petersheim, 87, of New Holland, passed away at Farimount Homes, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, following a brief illness.

His beloved wife, Anne Zook Petersheim, whom he cherished for 53 years, died in 2019. Born in Ronks, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Rachel Riehl Petersheim.

J.P. retired from Sight and Sound Ministries, after 27 years of service, at the age of 85. He thoroughly enjoyed his co-workers and helping to keep the grounds well maintained. Prior to that he worked for Horst Construction for 30 years. He was a member of Petra Church and the most important thing in his life was sharing Jesus with others. J.P. and Anne were instrumental in helping to start churches in the area and spent years serving those congregations in various ways. They also enjoyed traveling with friends and family vacations. He loved his family so well and made sure they all knew of Christ's deep love for them.

Surviving is a daughter, Rosa wife of Dale Zimmerman of New Holland; a son, Jay Petersheim of Strasburg; 5 grandchildren, Kelsey wife of Evan Kratz, Kaitlin wife of Nick Martin, Trent, Grayden and Harrison Petershiem; 4 great grandchildren, Emmett & Braylee Kratz and Lincoln and Sawyer Martin; and a brother, Gideon husband of Fannie Petersheim of Honey Brook. He was preceded in death by siblings, Amos, Isaac and Anna Petersheim.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 23, at 6:30 P.M. at Petra Church, 565 Airport Road, New Holland, PA. A Viewing will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Petra Church. There will be no viewing on Monday prior to the Memorial Service, however the family will greet friends following the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
