Joseph P. Raniere, 74, of Terre Hill, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Hershey Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was the husband of Brenda (Buckwalter) Mueller Raniere.
Born in Long Branch, NJ, he was the son of the late Carmen and Emanuela “Molly” (Sorrentino) Raniere.
Joseph was a long time resident of Rumson, Monmouth County, New Jersey, where he retired as an employee of the borough Public Works Department. A member of the Rumson Fire Company, he proudly served as a volunteer fire fighter, including a term as the Fire Chief. After the passing of his wife Gladys, Joseph moved to his retirement home in Terre Hill, PA where he met his beautiful wife Brenda.
Joseph was a member of Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church of East Earl and also attended the First United Methodist Church of Ephrata. In his spare time he loved helping his neighbors with their yardwork.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two stepsons: Keith A. Mueller, husband of Kris, of Denver, and Troy M. Mueller, husband of Virginia, of Narvon; a sister, Angela T. Stanley, wife of Eugene, of Hampton, VA; his nephew and godson, Michael Capps, husband of Pamela, of Shohola, PA; three nieces: Lisa Mottert, wife of Kenneth, of Newport News, VA, Debbie Carpenter, wife of Joseph, of Greenwood Village, CO, and Teresa Scherer of Newport News, VA; and 5 step-grandchildren: Kam A. Mueller, Tyler M. Hoppman, Kolton H. Mueller, Jake M. Mueller, and Tia L. Mueller.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his first wife, Dianne Pasquale (Daley) Raniere, his second wife, Gladys E. (Monaco) Raniere, and his nephew, David E. Capps.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Ephrata, 68 N Church St, Ephrata, PA 17522 with Pastor Walter Carter officiating. Interment will be in the Terre Hill Cemetery. Viewings will be held at the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill PA 17581 on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 6-8 PM and from 9-10 AM at the church on Monday. If lieu of flowers, contributions in Joseph’s name may be sent to The Weaverland Valley Fire Department, PO BOX 180, Terre Hill, PA 17581 or the American Diabetes Association, PO BOX 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, is in charge of arrangements.
