Joseph M. Zimmerman

Joseph M. Zimmerman, 92, of Ephrata, passed away on August 1, 2017 at Fairmount Homes Retirement Community. He was the husband of Anna Mae (Hoover) Zimmerman, whom preceded him in death in 2008.

Born in Earl Twp., Joseph was a son of the late Joseph E. and Hettie (Martin) Zimmerman.

Joseph was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference, and worked as a farmer and a small engine repairman.

Joseph is survived by 4 children: Lena H Weaver (Lloyd F.) of Ephrata, Ada Mae Shirk (Melvin L.) of East Earl, James H. Zimmerman (Anna Shirk) of Barnett, MO, and Lydia Ann Weaver (Christ N.) of Orrstown; 2 siblings: Frances Zimmerman of Ephrata and David M. Zimmerman (Barbara Reif) of New Holland; a sister-in-law, Fannie Mae Shirk of Ephrata; 25 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his sister Hettie Ann Shirk, his brother George M. Zimmerman (and George’s wife Esther Rissler), his brother Enos M. Zimmerman (and Enos’s wife Anna Hoover), a sister-in-law, Minnie Nolt Zimmerman, a brother-in-law, Eli S. Shirk, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Joseph’s funeral will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 9 AM at the home of Anna and Florence Zimmerman, 602 Grist Mill Rd, Ephrata 17522 with further services at Martindale Mennonite Church with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewings will be held on Sunday August 6 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Fairmount Homes Wheat Ridge Chapel, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata PA 17522.
