Katie N. Leid

Katie N. (Zimmerman) Leid, 87, of New Holland, died Tuesday, October 2 at her home. She was born in Earl Twp. to the late Menno N. and Mary W. Zimmerman and was the wife of the late John J. Leid, who died in 2003.

Katie was a member of New Holland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are 10 sons and 6 daughters: Mary Fox, widow of Alvin, Ephrata; Amos (Ella Zimmerman) Leid, Shippensburg; Melvin (Ada Fox) Leid, Newville; Ruth Zimmerman (Paul), Martindale; John (Lucy Sensenig) Leid, Ephrata; Elva Fox (Samuel) WI; Ervin (Mary Jane Sensenig) Leid, New Holland; James (Ella Mae Horning) Leid and Ivan (Ellen Burkholder) Leid, both of Shippensburg; Kathryn (Menno) Martin, NY; Edwin (Ruth Horst) Leid; Anna Nolt (Lloyd); Alma Nolt, widow of Aaron, all of IA; Mark (Susan Sauder) Leid, New Holland; Jonas (Norma Martin) Leid, IA and David (Grace Leinbach) Leid, Lititz; 123 grandchildren and 194 great grandchildren; also 2 sisters: Mary Reiff, New Holland and Ruth Martin, Terre Hill.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark L. Zimmerman; 5 brothers: Edwin, David, Harvey, Elam and Noah Zimmerman; and 4 sisters: Fannie Zimmerman, Anna Fox, Rebecca Zimmerman, and Emma Horning.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. at her late home with further services at 1:30 at New Holland Mennonite Church with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at her late home on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers.
