L Paul Kroekel

L. Paul Kroekel, 96, of New Holland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. He was born in Philadelphia on June 13, 1928, to the late Leopold A. Kroekel and Clara (Kraus) Kroekel.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patricia A. (Stumm) Kroekel. Paul and Pat, both Philadelphia natives, moved to New Holland in 1972 where they raised their family. They moved to a cottage in Garden Spot Village in 2015 where they enjoyed their final years.

Paul is survived by and will be fondly remembered by his brother, David W. Kroekel, and his 3 daughters, Nancy K. Reed, wife of Harry Reed III, Forest, Virginia; Holly K. Good, wife of Daniel K. Good, Waxhaw, North Carolina; Wendy L. Gordon, wife of Glenn I. Gordon, New Holland; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles H. Kroekel.

Paul proudly served his country in the US Army with the 45th Infantry Division from 1950 to 1952. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War.

He was a graduate of Drexel University and worked for 21 years as an industrial engineer for Lancaster Press. Paul retired from Lancaster Press as a vice president in 1994. Prior to that he worked for the Curtis Publishing Company in Philadelphia.

Paul enjoyed traveling, bird watching, gardening, wood carving, jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards with his friends. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Holland.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions are made to Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, 433 South Kinzer Avenue, New Holland PA, or to, Hospice and Community Care, https://www.hospiceandcommunitycare.org/in-honor-in-memory-gifts/.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Groff-High Funeral Home, Inc., of New Holland.
