L. Lloyd Ruoss, 89, of Marriottsville, MD, passed away on February 25, 2026.
Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late L. Lloyd and Eva (Haas) Ruoss.
He was the husband of the late Myra (Hacker) Ruoss, who passed in 2009 and is the husband of Joy (Moore) Rouss, with whom he has shared 15 years of marriage.
He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Ellicott City, MD and served in the United States Army for six years during Peacetime. He earned his doctorate degree from Temple University in 1971. He was an elementary school teacher and principal for Pequea Valley School District, the superintendent for Fleetwood School District, the director if I.U.13 for Lancaster and Lebanon County and the superintendent for Eastern Lancaster County School District, retiring in 1991. Lloyd was an avid golfer for many years. He treasured the numerous friendships and camaraderie in the Parsormore Golf group.
He was known as “Joe” by his family, who were the highlight of his life, and he valued his family more than anything.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, his daughters, Lynne McCracker, widow of Michael and Elizabeth Bossi widow of James, grandchildren, Sean McCracken, Benjamin Zelner husband of Courtney and Rebecca Seliga wife of Justin, great grandchildren, Carter and Charlotte Zelner, step children, Gwen Bender wife of Tim and Emily Elliott wife of Dan and step grandchildren, Ashlyn and Devin Bender and Maggie and Theo Bain.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Groff High Funeral Home, 145 W Main Street, New Holland PA 17557. A Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Center Union Cemetery.
