L. Ruth Kauffman

L. Ruth Kauffman, 86, of Fairmount Homes, formerly of Bowmansville, died peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2014 surrounded by her family.

Born in Caernarvon Twp., she was the daughter of the late Israel and Leah (Martin) Brendle. Her husband, Robert C. Kauffman, died in 1974.

Ruth was a homemaker and also worked as a retail sales clerk at Provident Bookstore for 24 years. She was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church and a former member of Hampden Mennonite Church where she served at both churches as an adult Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed oil painting, flower gardening, and bird watching.

Surviving are four children, J. Robert “Bob”, married to Maryetta (Miller) Kauffman of New Holland, Janet, married to Jim Stauffer of Lebanon, Glenn, married to June (King) Kauffman of Laurel, MD, and Joyce, married to Wilmer Martin of Reading; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandsons; and two sisters, Louisa Lehman, and Marian Hostetler.

Preceding her in death are four sisters, Irma Hoober, Arlene Martin, Pauline Weaver, and Ethel Brendle; and a brother, Melvin Brendle.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at 10 am at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl, PA with the Reverends Larry Weber, Carl Sensenig, and Glenn Kauffman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 27 at Fairmount Homes, Wheat Ridge Chapel, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata, PA from 6-8 pm and on Wednesday, at the Church, from 9-10 am.
