Larry D. Sherman

Larry D. Sherman, 81, of New Holland, formerly of Elverson and West Chester, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital.


Born in Tower City, PA he was the son of the late Lloyd and Geraldine (Koppenhaver) Sherman. His wife, Yoriko (Takano) Sherman, died Aug. 2, 2006. Larry and Yoriko were married in Hokkaido Japan on March 1, 1960 and shared 46 years of marriage.


Larry was a 1952 graduate of William Penn High School and later from Drexel University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Larry proudly served in the US military and was stationed in Japan where he met Yoriko.


He retired in 2001 from Lockheed Martin Aero Space Division in King of Prussia, PA after many years of service. He was a former member of the Elverson United Methodist Church and a member of the Model A Club of Chester County. Larry was a cancer survivor.


Surviving is a son, Rory, married to Karen Sherman of Chester Heights; a daughter, Kimi, married to Stephen Keech of Elverson; five grandchildren, Jackie, Kyle, Tori, Danielle, and Joshua; a brother, Pell Sherman of Newark, DE; and two sisters, Patricia Sherman of Leola, and Peggy Sherman of Berlin, MD.


Preceding him in death is a sister, Darlene Wenke.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2 at 3 pm at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, with the Chaplain Yoder officiating.
