Laura Jean (Jeannie) Hagelgans-Harple
Laura passed away 1:45 AM on February 2nd 2016 at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia due to complications with Cystic Fibrosis. On the day of her passing she was surrounded by family and friends. She battled the disease her entire life and it ended the lives of both her brother and a niece at tragically young ages.
Laura had a deep love for all living things, especially her garden and her dogs, Buddy and later Cody. She could often be found playing with them in the yard over her morning coffee. She was a talented artist, especially when it came to drawing and painting. She met her husband Pat from painting the gas tanks on his Harley. Together they enjoyed motorcycle trips. She loved photography, anything from portraits and candids to more artistic pieces. Laura was always up for a new adventure. She loved going to the beach, camping, or exploring the city.
Laura was strong and graceful. Always firm in her convictions and never letting anything keep her down. She fought her disease to the very end, never letting it dictate who she was. Laura radiated wisdom and warmth. She was always there with advice, leadership, or tough love – whatever the situation required. Laura was creative, tackling everything from painting to home renovation with the same passionate intensity. For these reasons and infinitely more she was an inspiration to all of us. She will live on in our hearts, our minds, and our memories, as well as the countless works of art and love she leaves behind.
Laura is survived by:
Her father Lester (Bill) and her step-mother Jane.
Her husband Patrick with whom she spent 20 years of happiness.
Her step-daughters Krista and her husband Michael, and Rachael and her fiancé Frank.
Her siblings Gary and his wife Yvonne, Larry and his wife Deb, Jeff, Julie and her husband Kenny, and Bill and his wife Mary-Beth.
Her grandchildren Lisselle, Novia, Baylee, Temperance, and Lyla.
She was preceded in death by her mother Doris, her brothers Stevie, Terry Lee, and her niece Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura’s honor may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at www.cff.org.
