Lena N. Martin

Lena N. (Zimmerman) Martin, 94, of East Earl, entered into rest on Monday, March 6, 2017 at her daughter’s residence in Blair County, PA. She was the loving wife of David K. Martin, who preceded her in death in 2012.

Born in East Earl Township, she was a daughter of the late Aaron Z. and Lizzie B. (Nolt) Zimmerman.

Lena was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference, and a homemaker.

Lena is survived by a stepdaughter, Emma Z. Burkholder of Ionia, IA; 8 children: Esther Zimmerman, wife of John H., of Millmont, PA, Aaron Martin, husband of Anna B. (Weaver), of Martinsburg, PA, Ammon Martin, husband of Ella M. (Zimmerman), of Martinsburg, PA, Elam Martin, husband of Mabel M. (Sensenig), of New Holland, Lloyd Martin, husband of Annetta H. (Sauder), of Ionia, IA, Vera Zimmerman, wife of Alvin Z., of Martinsburg, PA, Alma Hurst, wife of Elam H., of East Earl, and David Martin, husband of Marlene H. (Sauder), of Roaring Spring, PA; 6 siblings: Sarah Horning of New Holland, Lydia Ann Martin of New Holland, John Aaron Zimmerman, husband of Anna (Oberholtzer), of Ohio, Benjamin Zimmerman of Ohio, Esther Martin, wife of Isaac, of Martinsburg, and Lloyd Zimmerman, husband of Emma (Reiff), of New Holland; 75 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a step daughter, Nora Martin, 2 step sons-in-law, John R. Martin and Willis Burkholder, 3 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 7 brothers, and 1 sister.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 9 AM at the home of Elam and Alma Hurst with further services at 9:30 AM at Weaverland Mennonite Church with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday, March 12 from 2- 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM at the home of Elam and Alma Hurst, 340 Reading Road, East Earl PA 17519.
