Leon Weaver Burkholder

Leon Weaver Burkholder, 90, formerly of New Holland, passed away on June 3, 2025 at Fairmount Homes.

Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Michael W. and Emma (Weaver) Burkholder.

He was the husband of Vera M. (Nolt) Burkholder, with whom he married on January 14, 1956 and shared 69 years of marriage.

He was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference) and was a farmer.

Leon is survived by his wife, Vera, children, Kenneth Burkholder husband of Mary Ann of Gordonville, Leon Ray Burkholder husband of Doris of Ephrata, Eugene Burkholder husband of Julia of Robesonia, Richard Burkholder husband of Mary Jane of New Holland, J. Michael Burkholder husband of Ruth Ann of New Holland, James Burkholder husband of Marilyn of Abbeville, SC, Charles Burkholder husband of Joy of New Holland, Vera Jane Hursh wife of Kenneth of Ephrata and Cheryl Hursh wife of Robert of Ephrata, 62 grandchildren, 108 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Also surviving are siblings, Titus Burkholder of Ephrata, Frank Burkholder husband of Eva of Ephrata and Arlene Horst of Stevens, sister in laws, Ada Mae Burkholder and Mabel Burkholder and stepmother, Anna Burkholder.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by stillborn twin daughters, Janet and Joyce Burkholder, granddaughter, Christine Burkholder, grandson, Stephen Burkholder, great grandson, Tanner Frey and siblings, Edna Martin, Melvin, Raymond, Lloyd, Weaver and John Burkholder.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 9:30 AM at Groffdale Mennonite Church, 90 Groffdale Church Road, Leola PA 17540 with Bishop Curvin Zimmerman officiating. Viewings will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fairmount Homes Farm Crest Chapel, 1100 Farm Crest Drive, Ephrata PA 17522. Burial in the adjoining church cemetery.
