Leon E Martin

Leon E. Martin, 76, of Leola and loving husband of nearly 54 years to Marlene, passed away on the evening of February 11, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was the son of the late Elvin M. and Mary A. (Weaver) Martin

He began his career in construction working as a crewman. He recently retired from his position as co-owner at ACI Construction. He enjoyed sharing his construction knowledge by serving with MDS and YWAM in various places. His life was one of service and this included helping his family with whatever building remodeling projects going on and building furniture to fill their homes. He enjoyed traveling, especially when it included his family. Time spent at Tuckahoe Acres Campground fishing and clamming were the highlights of the summer.

He was a member of Indiantown Mennonite Church and was involved with projects there as well.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Melanie Long (Steve) and Amy Musser (Shawn). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Mara Horst (Glendon), Joshua, Aaron, Nate, Grace, Chloe, Lukas, Kathleen Lopez (Ryan) and Caleb, and two siblings, J. Elvin (Vera) Martin and Mary Ann (John) Martin.

He was preceded in death by a sister Mabel (Allen) Martin.

His funeral will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Indiantown Mennonite Church, 255 Indiantown Rd., Ephrata with Roger Zimmerman and Jay Weaver officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. and Friday from 1:30 -2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mennonite Disaster Service, 583 Airport Rd., Lititz, PA 17543 or mds.org.
