Lester Z. Martin, 83, of Centerville Road, Ephrata, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Fairmount Homes after a brief illness.
Born in Martindale, he was the son of the late Henry and Barbara (Zimmerman) Martin. His wife, Frances (Sensenig) Martin, died March 12, 2009.
Lester was a truck driver for 50 years for S. H. Good and later for Walter & Jackson in Hinkletown. He loved being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His smile was contagious.
He was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving are three children, Ervin, married to Alverta (Groff) Martin of Mohnton, Earl, married to Elsie (Zimmerman) Martin of Gap, and Edna, married to James Kauffman of Witmer; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Allen, married to Mabel (Martin) Martin of Ephrata; a sister, Mary Jane Martin of Mt. Joy; and a brother-in-law, Ervin Weaver of Leola.
Preceding him in death is a daughter, Shirley Jane Snader; a brother, Harvey Z. Martin; a sister, Alta Weaver; and a step-father, Moses Weiler.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6 at 9 am at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Road, Ephrata, with further services at 9:30 am at the Martindale Mennonite Church with the Bishop Amos G. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center. Kindly omit flowers.
