Lewis A. Davis

Lewis A. Davis, 76, of New Holland passed away on December 30, 2023 in Lancaster, PA.

He was born on April 16, 1947 in Coatesville, PA. Lewis served in the US Army from 1965 to 1968 as an airplane mechanic stationed in Korea. Lew was a Freemason in the Christiana Lodge, who did charitable works in the Lancaster and Lebanon area.

As a skilled mechanic and autobody specialist, Lewey had a successful career in the auto business at Larry Murphy Chevrolet and most recently at Lancaster Lincoln Mercury. He was highly respected for his expertise in the field and assisted many on their career path. After his retirement, Lewey opened an Amish driving service, which he enjoyed immensely. He was able to chat, try out his humor, while driving his friends and their families all over Pennsylvania and the U.S., as far as California and Florida.

Lewey is survived by his wife, Ethel (Buzzard) Davis. He loved her more than anything in the world. They were the epitome of love and happiness, married for 54 years, serving their church, their community and each other. He is survived by his sons Brent (Christina) and Brandon (Linda), and his sister Cheryl Thomas. He was preceded in death by his brother Chuck and sister Marie.

In his free time, Lewey enjoyed being part of the unofficial "Boardwalk Committee" at Ocean City, MD. He had a passion for automobiles and cherished spending time with his grandsons, Grant, Noah, Liam, Jason, Gabe, Ethan, Patrick, and Luke. Possibly his favorite hobby was hassling his nephew, Jordan.

Lew will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his sense of humor, his "unique" laugh, ability to connect with anyone, anywhere (ie: asking everyone he met "where are you from?"), a willingness to help others, morning coffee, love of Waffle House and his 8 grandsons, who proudly carry on many of these traits. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Viewing and the funeral will take place at Groff High Funeral Home at 145 W Main St, New Holland, PA 17557. Family and friends are invited to the viewing, Wednesday, January 3, from 6-8pm at the funeral home or on Thursday, January 4, from 9-10am at the funeral home. Funeral Services will follow the viewing, on Thursday, January 4, at 10am. Burial will be private and at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for Amish Assistance to Disability Relief Aid, 959 Georgetown Rd., Paradise, PA 17562.
