Betty Hess

Lillian E. “Betty” Hess, 89, a resident of Tel Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook, passed away at the home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

She was the wife of the late Thomas R. Hess who died in 2024. Born in Morgantown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Graf Shirk.

Betty graduated from Caernarvon High School in 1953. She was employed for many years as the secretary treasurer at the West Philadelphia Machine Works in Elverson, which she co-owned with her husband. She was a member of Robeson Lutheran Church. Betty spent many hours working in her yard and flower beds which she enjoyed immensely.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Emily and Riley. She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce, and by siblings, Harry Shirk and Irma Mundell.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, at 10:00 A.M. at Caernarvon Cemetery, 6200 Morgantown Road, Morgantown, PA.
