Lorraine D. Lauer-Tiru

Lorraine D. Lauer-Tiru, 79, of 9 Pleasant Hill Ave., Akron, died Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Ephrata Community Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Phoenixville, she was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Latham) Kovatch. She would have been married 12 years on July 29 to Raul Tiru.but they have been together for 25 years.

Lorraine worked for the past four years as a caretaker with United Disabilities Services in Lancaster.

She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, baking, canning, collecting, sewing crafts, and taking care of her pets.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Bonnie L., married to Kevin Martenson of Manchester, Denise Hash of New Holland, and Theresa Lauer of Bowmansville; two sons, Robert E., Jr., married to Jackie Lauer of Narvon, and Michael, married to Wendy Lauer of Honey Brook; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers, John Kovatch of Cleveland, OH, William Kovatch of Pottstown, and Donald Seponski of Phoenixville; a step daughter, Vanessa Tiru Seda of Lancaster; five step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is a son, John Lauer in 1993; a sister, Elaine Jirgens; and a brother, Stanley Seponski.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 19 at 11 am at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland, PA 17557, with the Reverend Kevin Readman officiating. Interment will be in the Bridgeville E.C. Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 9 – 11 am.
