Lorraine C. Williams

Lorraine C. Williams, 88 of New Holland, formerly of Paradise, died peacefully Saturday morning, April 12, 2014 at Garden Spot Village, New Holland after a brief illness. She had survived 20 years after a cancer diagnosis.

Born in Keene, NH she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose (Barcomb) Candello. She joined the Air Force after nurses training and was in Florida and then stationed in Germany, where she met her husband, Dr. Donald E. Williams, a dentist in the Air Force. He died in 2008.

Lorraine was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she taught RCIA for adults, was on the parish council, and taught religious education. She also volunteered at the Welsh Mountain Medical Center as a nurse and she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and bird watching.

Surviving are four children, Stephen A., married to Jaimie (Sprague) Williams of Springfield, VA, Catherine R., married to N. Brian Huegel of Narvon, Jean M., married to Gunner Hanson of Bloomfield, NM, and Daniel T., married to Michelle (Fuss) Williams of Gordonville; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Wendy Miller of Avenel, NJ.

Preceding her in death is a brother and four sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 21 at 11 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 150 Water St., New Holland, PA 17557. Interment will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday from 10 – 11 am.
