Lucas E. Malmer

Lucas E. Malmer, 33, of 187 Linda Terrace, Ephrata, PA died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care in Mt. Joy, PA after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Grand Island Nebraska, he was the son of Mark and Kim (Rich) Malmer of Ephrata, PA. Lucas and his family moved to Ephrata in 1989, where he graduated from Ephrata Area High School. He also attended Kutztown University. He worked most recently as a concrete worker at Reed Concrete in Ephrata, PA.

He was married 3 years on Aug. 16 to Laura (Jackson) Malmer. Lucas attended St. John’s Center U.C.C. and was a Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers fan but was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and the University of Nebraska Corn Huskers.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are three children, Madalynn, Juliet, and Nathaniel; maternal grandparents, Dale and Judy Rich of Robins, IA; seven brothers and sisters, Alan, married to Kari (Becker) Malmer of Ephrata, PA, Shannah, married to Van Steel of Pleasant View, TN, Margeau, married to Carlos Cream of Hummelstown, PA, Haylay, married to David Young of Reamstown, PA, Teresita, Isaac, and Jerrad Malmer all at home; and twelve nieces and nephews, Hannah, Jonas, Bradley, Julia, Ariel, Chase, Braedin, Hunter, Casey, Lily, Kyra & Colby Lucas.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 11 at 11 am at St. John’s U.C.C., 432 Reading Road, East Earl, PA 17519 with the Reverend Bradley Haws and the Reverend Wil Martin officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church on Friday from 9:30 – 11 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lucas Malmer Fund, c/o St. John’s Center U.C.C., address above.
