Lucretia "Crete" Esh

Lucretia Elaine Glassey Esh, known as Crete, of Quarryville, went home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday September 11th, 2024. Crete was born on October 2, 1939, in Philadelphia PA to William Glassy and Elizabeth Friday. In 1941, she was placed in the loving Christian foster home of Ezra and Salome Nafziger of Intercourse. Crete had foster brothers; Harold, Dave, and Gene (all deceased) and youngest brother Dan. She also had a foster sister Anna Marie Smith (deceased). Her biological parents are deceased as well as biological siblings Jake, Janet, and Fred Glassey.

Crete graduated from Pequea Valley High School in 1957 and Hoyt School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for 40 years with a passion for Alzheimer residents and their families. She married her loving caring man, John Esh on April 11, 1959.

Their union was blessed with four children Rick, husband of Janice Strawser in Strasburg; Ruby, wife of Jon Bitler in Quarryville; Rosey, wife of Paul Heiser, re-married to Janelle in Eden. Rosey passed away in 2003. And Ron, husband of Kim Weaver in New Holland. In addition to four children, they were blessed with 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Crete enjoyed embroidering and quilting crib blankets, playing cards with family and spending weekends with them in the mountains or the beach.

She joins her daughter Rosey and her great-grandson Toby and the Lord Jesus Christ.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 16, at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Vernon Christian Church, 1 Lighthouse Drive, Kirkwood, PA.  Viewings will be held at the church on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.  A Graveside Service will take place on Monday at 2:30 PM at Centerville Cemetery, 745 Centerville Road, Lancaster, PA.  Please omit flowers, if desired, contributions in Crete's memory may be made to Mt. Vernon Christian Church.
