Lucy M. Martin, age 72, of 1011 Oaklyn Dr., Narvon, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Garden Spot Village, New Holland after a four-month illness.


Born in Brecknock Twp. on December 26, 1952, she was the daughter of the late D. Walter and Anna Mary S. (Martin) Martin.


Before her retirement, she was employed at Shirlee’s Manufacturing Co. as a sewing machine operator and also at the West Reading Hospital in the Housekeeping Department for 35 years. She was also her mother’s caregiver for a number of years. She was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.


She is survived by 2 brothers, Edwin Z. Martin married to Esther (Good) Martin, Denver and Daniel W. Martin, Narvon, 7 sisters: Rachel VanZee, Stevens, Anna Mary Martin, Narvon, Martha married to Noah M. Burkholder, Dundee, NY, Nancy married to Leon B. Zimmerman, Narvon, Rebecca married to Leonard H. Martin, Memphis, MO, Bertha married to Elvin B. Sensenig, Reinholds, and Elsie married to Lawrence W. Zimmerman, Orrstown, and a sister-in-law Alma (Wenger) Martin, New Holland. Also surviving are 38 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.


Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Z. Martin, a sister, Rosene M. Martin, 2 nieces: Carolyn W. Martin and Mary Jane (Martin) Bange, one nephew, Christopher E. Sensenig and a brother-in-law, Henry VanZee.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 980 Oaklyn Dr., Narvon with Bishop Leon S. Zimmerman, Marlin Lauver, Albert Sensenig, and Joshua Burkholder officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewings will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Rd., Ephrata. Kindly omit flowers.


The family wishes to thank Hospice and the staff of Wintergarden at Garden Spot Village for their compassionate care.


The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, is in charge of arrangements.
