Lydia M. (Shirk) Brubacher, 97, of 580 Lambert Rd., Narvon, died Monday, January 20, 2014 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse K. Brubacher, in 1996.
Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin W. and Annie (Martin) Shirk.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving are nine children: Ivan married to Elva Brubacher, Narvon; Jesse married to Anna Brubacher, Denver; Annie Brubacher, Narvon; Mabel married to Isaac Martin, Shippensburg; Reuben married to Mabel Brubacher, Narvon; Ben married to Joanne Brubacher, Mohnton; Eva married to Henry Stauffer, New Holland,; Naomi married to Irvin Brubaker, Narvon; Vera marred to Aaron Martin, Cerulean, KY; 41 grandchildren; 158 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister Eva Shirk, Narvon and a brother Menno Shirk, East Earl.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters: Mary Brubacher and Bertha Brubacher and a grandson Marvin N. Brubacher, five brothers and a sister.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 27 at 9 a.m. at the home of Naomi and Irvin Brubaker, 834 Lambert Rd., Narvon with further services at 9:30 a.m. at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church with Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the home of Naomi and Irvin Brubaker on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.
