Mabel M. Bowman

Mabel M. Bowman, 95, of Ephrata, died Friday, December 22, 2017 at Fairmount Homes, Ephrata.

Born in Manheim, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Fannie (Heisey) Ruhl and the foster daughter of John and Cora Charles. She was married 72 years on Jan. 14 to Clayton S. Bowman.

Mabel worked at Lancaster Mennonite High School as Kitchen Manager for 30 years and later in food service at Hershey Farms.

She was a member of Mellinger’s Mennonite Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four children, Robert C., married to Sandra (Pickel) Bowman of Lititz, Joanne R., married to Harold Good of Anderson, SC, Joyce E., married to William Parks of Baltimore, MD, and Kenneth E. Bowman of Bird-in-Hand; seven grandsons; and 14 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are 10 brothers and sisters, Anna Bruckhart, Florence Snyder, Clarence Ruhl, Charles Ruhl, Raymond Ruhl, Clayton Ruhl, Landis Ruhl, Martin Ruhl, Dorothy Slesser, and Richard Ruhl; two foster sisters and a foster brother, Mildred Kreider, Martin Charles, and Ruth Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28 at 11 am at Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 E Lincoln Hwy, Lancaster with Leon Oberholtzer officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday, at the Church, from 10-11 am.
