Mabel E. Hershey

Mabel E. (Herr) Hershey, 102, of Lititz, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Landis Homes. She was the loving wife of J. Musser Hershey, who passed away in 2001.


Born in Strasburg Township, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Emma (Stauffer) Herr.


Mabel was a member of Hershey Mennonite Church.


Mrs. Hershey worked as a babysitter and housekeeper for several families throughout her life. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Vacationing in Ocean City, N.J. with family was important to her. And she vacationed in Florida during the winter.


Mabel is survived by two children: Harold J. Hershey, husband of Alma (Hershey), of Lancaster, and Joyce Stoltzfus, wife of Nelson K., of Parkesburg; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a great-granddaughter, a brother, Walter Herr, and 5 sisters: Kathryn Coulter, Edna Gamber, Dorothy Risser, Elsie Smoker, and Pauline Denlinger.


Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11 AM at Hershey Mennonite Church, 401 Hershey Church Rd, Kinzers, PA 17535 with Pastor Jesse Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing will be held from 10-11 AM at the church. Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland, is in charge of arrangements.
