Mabel High Horst

Mabel H. Horst, 81, of East Earl, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.

She was the wife of the late Paul W. Horst who died in 2007. Born in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Hettie High Zimmerman.

Mabel was a member of the Spring Grove Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference. She was a homemaker and along with her late husband had founded the Horst Farm Market.

Surviving are six sons, Clyde husband of Emma Horst of Stanley, WI, Lewis husband of Mary Horst of East Earl, Leon husband of Ruth Horst of Thorp, WI, Paul husband of Barbara Horst of East Earl, Isaac husband of Irene Horst of Woodbury, PA and Clair Horst of East Earl; three daughters, Irene wife of Elmer Nolt of Alta Vista, IA, Elva wife of Walter Horst of Ephrata, and Esther wife of Leon Nolt of Riceville, IA; 70 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren; four brothers, Isaac husband of Fannie Zimmerman of New Holland, Aaron husband of Edna Mae Zimmerman of New Holland, Lloyd husband of Annetta Zimmerman of Terre Hill, and Paul husband of Mabel Zimmerman of East Earl; four sisters, Anna wife of Israel Martin of Shippensburg, Vera wife of the late Phares Newswanger of East Earl, Miriam wife of the late Phares Zimmerman of Versailles, MO and Verna wife of Leroy Zimmerman of Mifflinburg; and a sister-in-law, Mary Zimmerman of Liberty, KY. She was preceded in death by brothers, Harold and Christian Zimmerman, by sisters, Mary Newswanger, Esther Weaver and Elva Zimmerman; by a grandson and two great grandsons.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 13 at 9:00 A.M. at the late home with further services at 9:30 A.M. at the Spring Grove Mennonite Church with Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the late home on Sunday from 2 -4 P.M. and 6 - 8 P.M. Kindly omit flowers.
