Mabel B. Kurtz, 100, of New Holland, formerly of Elverson, died Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Garden Spot Village. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David S. Beiler with whom she shared over 14 years of marriage and her second husband, Stephen Kurtz, with whom she shared almost 25 years of marriage.
Born in Elverson, she was the daughter of the late Harvey M. and Mary L. (Sweigart) Kurtz.
Mabel was a seamstress for most of her life. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and helped with many quilts for Mennonite Central Committee. She was a member of Conestoga Mennonite Church and was active in the ladies sewing circle for many years.
Surviving are four siblings: Laura Kurtz, Marie (Phil) Ruch, Cora Kurtz and Titus (Pearl) Kurtz, and seven stepchildren: Gladys Shearer, Paul (Leanne) Beiler, Mary Ann (Glenn) Leaman, Rodella Weaver, Leonard Kurtz, James Kurtz and Ken (Chris) Kurtz.
She was preceded in death by a sister Lydia (Abram) Baer, and four stepchildren: Raymond Beiler, Louella Mosteller, Elaine Stoltzfus, and Walter Kurtz.
Her funeral will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. A Viewing will be held on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Garden Spot Village Chapel and on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, is in charge of arrangements.
