Margaret G. Shirk Martin

Margaret G. Shirk Martin, 91, of 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata, died Thursday, February 27 at Fairmount Homes. She was preceded in death by both her husbands, Leon B. Shirk in 1979 and Carl W. Martin in 2012, and by a son, Henry Wayne in 1949.

Born in Bowmansville, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Annie (Good) Weber.

She was a homemaker who was known for quilting abilities and was an avid bird watcher.

She attended Gehman Mennonite Church.

Surviving are four sons: Maynard married to Alice (Hess) Shirk, Conestoga; Carl married to Sharon (Lantz) Shirk, Stumptown; David married to Dolores (Good) Shirk, Guinea Bissau; Dale married to Verda (Kauffman) Shirk, Terre Hill; five step-children: Lois married to Larry Martin, Robesonia; Arlene married to David Hollinger, East Earl; Glen married to Mary (Landis) Martin, Adamstown; Delmar married to Kathy (Newswanger) Martin, Mohnton; and Sharon Kurtz, Bowmansville; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 24 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five siblings, and one daughter-in-law, Anna (Sweigart)

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, March 6 at 10 a.m. at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Rd., East Earl. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Fairmount Homes Wheat Ridge Chapel and on Thursday at the church from 9 – 10 a.m. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.
