Margaret C. Weir

Margaret C. Weir, 95, of New Holland, formerly of Havertown, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Garden Spot Village, New Holland.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Hendry) Kissick. Her husband, Walter Weir, died in 1971.

She was a member of Monterey Chapel in Leola and a former member of Collingdale Gospel Chapel in Collingdale. Margaret was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed sewing for missionaries, was a member of the Christian Women’s Club, and enjoyed Bible studies.

Margaret worked as a welder during WWII and later as Head Houseparent at Melmark Home in Berwyn.

Surviving are four children, Carol, married to Lawrence Shaw of Hempstead, NC, Bette Ann, married to Thomas Loane of West Chester, Walter, Jr., “Bud”, married to Christine Weir of Springfield, and Paul, married to Beverly Weir of Cape May Court House, NJ; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is a sister, Betty McCoy.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 11 at 2 PM at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557.
