Marguerite H. Chain

Marguerite H. “Peg” Chain, 93, of New Holland, died early Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Garden Spot Village. She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Chain, D.D.S., to whom she would have been married 71 years on Jan. 17th.

Born in Blue Ball, she was the daughter of the late Edgar B. and Susan (Stauffer) Getz.

Marguerite graduated from New Holland High School. She then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Hygiene. She was a school hygienist at Clairton, PA, and was hygienist at Manheim Borough and Donegal School Districts. She worked for eight years as hygienist in the office of her husband Dr. Robert Chain.

She was a 55 year member and Past President of New Holland American Legion Auxiliary #662. She was past President of the State American Legion Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at Veterans’ Hospitals.

She was past President of the Lancaster County Dental Auxiliary. Peg then became past President of the State Dental Auxiliary.

Peg was also past President of the former Lancaster Business Professional Women’s Club; and a member of Lancaster Chapter #501, Order of the Eastern Star.

She was an active member of the Hamilton Park U.C.C., Lancaster.

She enjoyed crafts, playing bridge and travel.

She was the last surviving member of her family.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 17, at 2 p. m. at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 East Main Street, New Holland, with Pastor Catherine M. Shiley officiating. Private interment will be in Bridgeville Cemetery, Narvon. To send the family online condolences visit us at www.beckfuneral.com.
