Maria Lydia Gonzalez

Maria Lydia Gonzalez, 86, of New Holland, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Domingo and Audilia (Morales) Leon. Her husband, Miguel Gonzalez, died in 1994.

Maria was a homemaker and a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Church for 44 years.

She enjoyed watching Major League Baseball, especially the Pittsburg Pirates. She also enjoyed listening to music and cooking.

Surviving are three children, Angela Gonzalez, married to Anibal Sanchez of Puerto Rico, Abigail “Abby”, married to Radames “Johnny” Gonzalez of New Holland, and Miguel Gonzalez of New Holland; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Antonia Leon of Puerto Rico; and a brother, Juan Leon of Puerto Rico.

Preceding her in death is a daughter, Myrna Gonzalez.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25 at 1 pm at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Noon – 1 pm.
