Marian E. Harnish, 89, entered into heaven on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Keystone Villa, 100 N. State St., Ephrata. Marian formerly resided in a condo at Ashlea Village, New Holland. She was preceded in death by her parents, George R. and Blanche (Stafford) Witwer of Narvon. Her husband, Maurice Harnish preceded her in death in 2009, her twin sister Hazel Houck in 1997, and sisters Irene Styer, Betty Diem and Dorothy “Dot” Laukhuff and a brother George Witwer.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda L. Weaver, New Holland, a grandson Michael D. Weaver, Bowmansville, a great-granddaughter Monica Weaver, Bowmansville, a great-grandson Michael D. Weaver, Jr., California, and a great-great-grandson Michael D. Weaver III of California. Also several close nieces and their families and a nephew.
Marian worked at Singing Needles in Leola as an operator and floor person most of her working life until it closed. She retired in 1995 from a New Holland sewing facility.
Earlier years, living on Huyard Road, New Holland, found her gardening, her favorite hobby, planting several flower gardens throughout her property. Born with a green thumb, her gardens flourished for many summers and were amazing. Earlier years also found her taking care of her two parrots and myna bird that talked.
She loved collecting sock monkeys of all sizes and colors.
A special thanks to the staff members at Keystone Villa where she resided the last three months. They treated her like a family member and she came to look upon them as the same. Their warm, caring treatment was a blessing. Thanks also to Hospice for All Seasons, who worked closely together with the Keystone Villa staff to make her stay comfortable and enjoyable.
Also appreciation to the Ephrata Medical team, especially Karina Dussinger for her care and cooperation with the staff member of both organizations.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Bridgeville E. C. Church, 5971 Division Hwy., Narvon. Interment in Bridgeville Cemetery.
