Marian R. Horst

On Friday, December 4th, 2015, Marian (Leaman) Horst, 81, of Lancaster, PA, came face to face with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a short battle with cancer. Marian was born and raised in Leola, PA. She was pre-deceased by the love of her life, Abram S. Horst, Jr. (1997) to whom she was married for 44 years. She was the daughter of Daniel W. and Ethel (Metzler) Leaman, both deceased. She was the amazing mother of Judy (Horst) Martin, married to John Martin, William R. Horst married to Debra (Upton) Horst , Barbara J (Horst) Hess married to Rob Hess, Robert L. Horst, married to Julia (Bare) Horst and Marilou (Horst) Shaffer, married to Brian Shaffer all of Lancaster, PA. She was a wonderful Grandma to 16 grandchildren and GiGi to 29 Great Grand Children.

She was the oldest sister of 7 brothers, Carl (Lynda), John (Linda), Glenn (Jane), Kenneth (Sharon), Robert (Carol), Gerald (Sharon), and Daniel (Naomi). She was pre-deceased by her sister, Carol.

Marian was a member of Salem Bible Church, Voganville, PA. She had been involved with Christian Women’s Club for many years and taught Bible Studies all throughout her life. She served with the Ladies Auxiliary of Lancaster Bible College for many years. She loved to sing and to share the Lord with anyone she would meet! Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family! She loved to go out to eat and to fellowship with people over a meal. She was the consummate hostess, opening her home to many over the course of her life. Her favorite verse that she loved to share was James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” We rejoice knowing that she is whole and new, free from pain and reunited with her loved ones.

After a private interment in Voganville, PA, a celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, December 10th, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Chapel at Lancaster Bible College, 901 Eden Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 pm with the service beginning at 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to 2 local ministries that Marian loved and supported – Lancaster Bible College or Lancaster County Christian School, 651 Lampeter Rd, Lancaster, PA 17602.
