Obituary

Marjorie Ann (Turner) Ishler, 94, was born June 3, 1932 in Wilkinsburg, PA to Agnes Pauline Brown and Russel L. Turner. She passed away on August 13, 2026 with family present.

In her early years, she lived with her Aunt Kate and Uncle Bob Laramy in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maryland. During high school, she rejoined her Mother (Agnes) and Step-Father (Frank Keller) in Pleasant Gap, PA and graduated from Bellefonte Area High School in 1950.

Marjorie met Thomas William Ishler at a square dance. They married in 1953 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Clearfield, PA. Building a house by themselves on Tom’s family farm in Boalsburg, PA was a huge endeavor while simultaneously starting their family, new jobs and college for Tom. Marjorie worked at Sylvania, the Pennsylvania Fish Commission, the IRS, helped start Broadmeadow School in Middletown, DE, Chrysler Plant in Newark, DE, the University of Delaware Computing Center, and the Ephrata IU13 School system in PA.

She received her BS degree at the University of Delaware as well as certification in Special Education at Millersville University.

The family took many camping trips with their travel trailer from New England to the Blue Ridge Mountains and Delaware beaches. They were part of the Lutheran Family Campers. She enjoyed traveling to other countries: US Virgin Islands, Scotland, Wales, England, Egypt, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Russia and Sweden. Marjorie enjoyed attending the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary Lay School of Theology for many years. She also enjoyed reading, quilting, crocheting, word puzzles, coloring, raising Dachshunds, hosting many events and attending family reunions. Her family was the center of her world.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas in 2017, her parents, son Allan Robert Ishler and sister Marian Frances Turner Breon.

Surviving are her children: Thomas W. Ishler, Jr. (Adele) Dianne Marie (Ishler) Cass (Lewis), Carol Beth (Ishler) McCormick (Lee), Susan Agnes (Ishler) Newton (Stephen), Barbara Ann (Ishler) Nyhof. grandchildren: Elyssia, Jessica, Aimee, Kyle, Ashley, Daniel, Lauren and Erika, and great-grandchildren Rylee, Ariadne, Remy, William, Reilyn, Rosalinda, Zachary, and Ellie Mae as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 P.M. at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 West Main Street, New Holland, PA.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 11 A.M. in Boalsburg Cemetery, 305 North Church Street, Boalsburg, PA. A luncheon will follow in the St. Johns U.C.C. Church Fellowship Hall, next door. All are welcome.
