Martha E. Waldrop

Martha E. Rineer (Marty) Waldrop, 92, of New Holland, entered the church Triumphant on July 16, 2024, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Rineer and Gertrude (Sprenger) Rineer Weber and was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Thomas Willam Waldrop in 2021.

Marty is survived by four daughters: Debra (Kevin) Tarrant, Medford, NJ, Karen Waldrop, New Holland, Beverly (Jim) Halpin, Jim Thorpe, Gail (Jim) Ertzgard, New Holland, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Rineer Bechtold and her twin brothers, Robert and William Rineer.

Marty was a 1949 graduate of J. P. McCaskey High School and a graduate of Bryland School of Beauty in Reading in 1978.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Holland. In addition to being the church secretary for many years, Marty was in the choir, played in the Bell Choir, taught Sunday School and participated on several committees.

She took an active role in the community as well, with 4H, Brownies, teaching line-dancing classes, Girl Scouts and directing the New Holland Food Bank, now CrossNet Ministries Food Pantry, for 20 years.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 E. Main St., New Holland.
