Martin H. Good

Martin H. Good, 76, of 166 Reading Rd., East Earl, died Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Fairmount Homes following a 10-month battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna (Martin) Good in 1999 and his second wife, Beatrice (Martin) Good in 2010.


Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Harry M. and Mabel (Hoover) Good.


Martin had retired as a dairy farmer and rollback truck service operator.


He was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.


Surviving are three sons: Neil M. married to Betty (Burkholder) Good, East Earl; Clair M. married to Lucille (Horst) Good, East Earl; and Lynn M. married to Lynnelle (Fox) Good, East Earl; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; seven step-children: Bonita married to Jacob Martens, Robesonia; Vernon married to Rebecca (Ebersole) Martin, Pensacola, FL; Ernest Martin, Newmanstown; Leon married to Anna (Shirk) Martin, Newmanstown; Linda married to Loren Martin, Orrstown; Mark married to Esther (Bontrager) Martin, Westminster, SC; and Rhoda married to Isaac Lowry, Falling Water, WV; 47 step-grandchildren; 35 step great grandchildren; and seven siblings: Clarence married to Lucille Good, Reinholds; Harry married to Thelma Good, Newmanstown; Grace married to Aaron Lehman, Myerstown; Esther married to David Sensenig, Ephrata; Martha married to Walter Burkholder, New Holland; Mabel married to Amos K. Martin, New Holland and Edith married to Irvin Oberholtzer, Rutledge, MO.


He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Good and Anna Oberholtzer; two infant sons; an infant daughter; and a foster daughter.


His funeral will be held on Monday, Dec. 3, at 9:00 a.m. at the Martindale Reception Center with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Weaverland Mennonite Church with Bishop Amos G. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at Fairmount Homes Wheat Ridge Chapel. Kindly omit flowers. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements.
