Martin M. Shirk

Martin M. Shirk, 79, of Narvon, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. His wife, Eva M. (Nolt) Shirk, died April 4, 2019.

Born in Caernarvon Twp., he was a son of the late Samuel R. and Florence R. (Martin) Shirk.

Martin was a farmer and a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Surviving are eight children, Mary Ann married to James Zimmerman of East Earl, John David married to Vera (Hoover) Shirk of Himrod, NY, Alvin N. married to Irene (Martin) Shirk of Narvon, Edna married to Harry Snyder of Woodbury, Ellen married to Allen Zimmerman of Owen, WI, Martin, Jr. married to Susan (Brubacher) Shirk of Narvon, Samuel married to Darlene (Nolt) Shirk of Narvon, and Louise married to James Zimmerman of Narvon; 59 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Paul, married to Ruth (Shirk) Shirk of Narvon, Ivan, married to Anna (Nolt) Shirk of New Holland, Annetta, married to Lloyd Zimmerman of Terre Hill, Ida, married to Walter Hurst of Morgantown, Harvey, married to Alma (Weaver) Shirk of Narvon, and Amanda Shirk of Narvon.

He was preceded in death by two great grandsons, a brother, Amos Shirk; and two sisters, Naomi Shirk and Esther Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 5 at 9 am at the home of Alvin Shirk, 240 S. Churchtown Road, Narvon, with further services at 9:30 am at Churchtown Mennonite Church with the Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 4 at the home of Alvin Shirk from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Kindly omit flowers. Arrangements by Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.
