Marvin Leroy Weaver, 89, of Lancaster, PA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and the presence of the God he faithfully served.
Born to the late Benjamin F. Weaver and Katie (Horning) Weaver, Marvin was a man who exemplified quiet strength, patience, gentleness, and unwavering faith. On August 25, 1956, he married his teenage sweetheart, Lois (Hurst) Weaver, and together they shared nearly 69 years of loving marriage and ministry.
Marvin dedicated his life to serving the Lord and others with a patient and compassionate spirit. His vocation as a social worker, pastor, and counselor reflected his heart for healing and hope. He pastored at Laurel Street Mennonite Church for twelve years, followed by nine years at Rossmere Mennonite Church, both in Lancaster. Alongside his pastoral work, Marvin and Lois offered decades of counseling to individuals, couples, and families, ministering together with humility and grace.
A visionary and advocate for youth and community, Marvin was also the founder of The Mix at Arbor Place, a community center in Lancaster that continues to impact the lives of countless young people and families.
Marvin’s legacy lives on in the lives of those he served, mentored, and loved. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois, and their children: Phil of Livingston, Montana; Tim, husband of Ellen (Treadway) of Quarryville; Rose of Leola; Mark of Lancaster; and Sally, wife of Justin Bredeman of Lancaster. He was a cherished Pop-Pop to 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by many dear in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia (Weaver) Martin, and his brothers Louis Weaver, Wayne Weaver, William Weaver, and Irvin Weaver.
Marvin will be remembered for his Christ-like humility, his listening ear, his unwavering belief in people, and his quiet leadership that left a profound and lasting mark on all who knew him.
