Mary Arlene Sollenberger

Mary Arlene Sollenberger, 83, of New Holland, formerly of 384 Springville Road, New Holland, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Garden Spot Village after a lengthy illness.

Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Anna (Spotts) Simmons. Her husband, Earl Sollenberger, died Jan. 11, 1996.

Arlene worked for about 25 years as a Teacher’s Aide at the Salisbury Elementary School.

She was a lifelong member of Mt. Airy E.C. Church where she served as a pianist. She also enjoyed reading, flower gardening, traveling, and cheering for Penn State Football.

Surviving is a son, Thomas J. Sollenberger of Collegeville; a daughter, Patti A., married to Javier Carrillo of El Paso, TX; three grandchildren, Matthew, Angie and Jason Sollenberger; a sister, Linda Johnson of York; and a brother, Eddie Simmons of New Holland.

Preceding her in death is a son, Michael L. Sollenberger (April 29, 2013).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15 at 11 am at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with the Reverend Bruce Willier officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Airy E.C. Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8 pm and on Saturday from 10-11 am.
