Mary E. Byers

Mary E. Byers, 94, of New Holland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 6, 2015.She was born October 10, 1920, in Terre Hill to the late Ivan and Florence (Hueyard) Stone.

Mary was the loving wife of the late Charles L. “Mick” Byers who died in 2013.

Mary was employed at Garden Spot High School Cafeteria from 1964 until her retirement in 1982.

Mary was an active member of the Pilgrim Bible Church and enjoyed bird watching, playing piano, flower gardening and playing her favorite card game from childhood, Muggins.

Surviving are five children, Charles L. married to Jean (Deller) Byers, Jr. of New Holland; Sydney U. married to Sharon (Dries) Byers of Venice, FL; and Bradley B. married to Betty (Killian) Byers of Ronks; Dianne L. married to Nevin Burkholder of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Sherry L. married to Joel Barrett of Lake City, FL; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and five siblings, Marian Miller of New Holland; Mabel Weaver of Lititz; Hazel Spence of Mt. Joy; Connie married to Carl Adams of Blue Ball; and Kenneth Stone of New Holland.

She was preceded in death by six siblings, Ralph Stone, Kathryn Frey, Evelyn Weaver, Ivan Stone, Jr., Charlotte Reeser, and Janet Stover.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 11:30 AM at Pilgrim Bible Church, 5367 Paes Road, New Holland, with the Reverend Norman Griess officiating. Interment will be in the Zeltenreich Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 – 11:30 AM at the Church.
