Mary H. Shirk

Mary H. Shirk, 87, of 123 Bridgeville Road, East Earl, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at her home after declining health.

Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Barbara (Horst) Martin. Her husband, Aaron S. Shirk, died May 4, 2006.

Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Surviving are 7 sons, Isaac, married to Anna Mae (Sauder) Shirk of Narvon, Leroy, married to Martha F. (Zeiset) Shirk of Dundee, NY, John Aaron, married to Susie R. (Newswanger) Shirk of Goodville, Harlan, married to Annetta M. (Martin) Shirk of Goshen, IN, David, married Mary R. (Zimmerman) Shirk of East Earl, Lester, married to Margaret M. (Martin) Shirk of Goshen, IN, and Alson, married to Dawn L. (Brubaker) Shirk of Bethel, PA; 5 daughters, Vera, married to Edwin Nolt of Withee, WI, Annetta, married to Mervin Martin of Mifflinburg, Anna Mary, married to Floyd Ringler, Jr. of Narvon, Verna, married to Allen Zimmerman of Unity, WI, and Marian Shirk of East Earl; 74 grandchildren; 230 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Barbara, married to David Zimmerman of New Holland, Vera, married to Lloyd Martin of Cantril, IA, and Edna, married to Mahlon Zimmerman of New Holland; 2 brothers, Paul, married to Judy (Ginder) Martin of Lititz, and Isaac, married to Esther (Zimmerman) Martin of Martinsburg; and 2 sisters-in-law, Evelyn Martin of Florida, and Ruth Martin of Terre Hill.

Preceding her in death is a grandson; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Laura Martin; and three brothers, Lloyd, Raymond, and Henry Martin.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 10 at 9 am at the late home with further services at 9:30 am at the Weaverland Mennonite Church with the Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday at the late home from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Kindly omit flowers. Arrangements by Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
