Mary Coppock Hastie, 96, of New Holland, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed from the cares of this world to her eternal home in Heaven on Monday, February 2, 2026, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Hastie, in 2001.
Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence G. and Mary (Goldsborough) Coppock. She was a graduate of Nether Providence High School and worked as a secretary for an insurance company before devoting the rest of her life to being an exemplary wife and mother. She kept an immaculate home, was a creative cook and baker (she was well known for her delicious cookies and perfect pies), and chose to meet the needs of her family before she thought of herself. Her children remember her as being the most patient, loving and kind person they have ever met. She was also known for being hospitable and for meeting the needs of others in her community and church. “Mrs. Hastie” was also loved by all of the children she taught for many years as a 2 and 3 year old Sunday School teacher. She was a member of High Point Baptist Chapel in Geigertown, Pennsylvania, for the last 35 years.
Surviving are four children: Randall Lee Hastie married to Linda, Greer, South Carolina; Ruth Ann married to Samuel Rohrer, Elverson, Pennsylvania; Susan Joy married to Donald James, West Chester, Pennsylvania; Carolyn Louise married to Gordon Denlinger, Churchtown, Pennsylvania; 17 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul and Donald Coppock. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Coppock.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Garden Spot Village Chapel with her grandson, Pastor Blake Denlinger, officiating. Interment will be private at Philadelphia Memorial Park, Fraser, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, Pennsylvania, 17557.
