Mary Louise (Rice) Mahoney’s ultimate dream of being held in the arms of Jesus became her reality on June 3, 2024, in the state of Virginia where she resided. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Lena B. (Pflaumer) Rice. She was the wife of the late Bernard J. Mahoney, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage until his passing on March 7, 2022.

Mary Louise loved the New Holland Fair where she volunteered with her mother and later served as a judge for the vegetable competitions. She loved children and was active in the nursery at Westminster Presbyterian Church. After moving to Central Virginia, she became an active member of the Louisa Christian Church.

Mary Louise is survived by two daughters, Jennifer, wife of Jeff Henry (children: Charlotte and Teddy) and Jill, wife of John H. Grose (children: Jeb, Roo, Beau, MaryAshton, Luke, and Elisabeth), and a niece, Amanda Sulpizio, (Don and her five children). She also had three stepchildren, Barry Mahoney (Cheri), Mary Kreider (Dick), Lori Buffenmyer (Troy) and six step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Suzie Sturdevant and her husband Steve.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 11:30 A.M. at Evangelical United Methodist Cemetery, 276 W. Main Street, New Holland, PA 17557 with Pastor Rifle Schutte officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Louisa Christian Church, 104 Elm Ave., Louisa, VA 23093.

Groff High Funeral Home in New Holland is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
