Mary W. Muhlenberg

Mary W. (Witwer) Muhlenberg, 93, of Robeson Township, passed away on June 6, 2021 in Tower Health Reading Hospital.

Born in Elverson, she was the daughter of the late H.S. and Mabel I. (McGowan) Witwer.

She was the loving wife of the late Jack W. Muhlenberg, with whom she married on February 14, 1952 and shared sixty loving years of marriage until the time of his passing on April 13, 2012.

Mary attended Caernarvon High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University. She was employed as a substitute teacher for the Twin Valley School District for many years. She was a member of Robeson Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mary and her husband bred, raced and provided a loving home for retired thoroughbred horses for sixty-five years.

During World War II, Mary participated as a plane spotter for the Civil Air Patrol in Plowville, PA.

Mary is survived by her daughter; Lori A. Muhlenberg of Birdsboro, a sister; Rosa Belle Bender of Glenmoore and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a brother; Harvey Witwer.

Services will be held private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in Caernarvon Cemetery in Morgantown, PA.
