Melissa M. Mitchell

Melissa M. Mitchell, 58, of Welsh Lane, Morgantown, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at home with family following her spirited and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Rickey Mitchell with whom she shared 36 years of marriage.

Born in Warner Robins, GA, she was the daughter of Dorothy (Reuter) Miorin of New Holland, PA, and the late Anton Miorin. She was a member of St. Benedict’s R.C. Church.

Melissa was a Registered Nurse since 1976 and had worked at several area hospitals until last year, most recently at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center and Reading Hospital.

She loved and enjoyed family and friends, good humor, gardening and landscaping. Melissa blessed us all with a sweetness we will long remember.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her sons, Michael, married to Tara Mitchell of Trumbull, CT, and Jeremy, partner of Catherine Stephens, of Washington, D.C., and four brothers, Anthony married to Davida Miorin, of Sherman, TX, Patrick, married to Luann Miorin, of Alexandria, VA, Todd, married to Karen Miorin of Liberty Twp., OH, and James Miorin of Canton, GA.

A memorial service will be held at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, PA, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Philip F. Rodgers as celebrant. Arrangements are through Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. before the service. If preferred, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to a charity of your choice.
