Melvin E. Messner

Melvin E. Messner, 65, of East Earl, died Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at his home. He was the loving husband of Geraldine H. (Weaver) Messner, for the last 40 years.

Born in East Earl, he was the son of Helen (Burkholder) Messner of East Earl and the late Howard Messner.

Melvin worked at CNH as an assembler and in the shipping department.

He was a member of Petra Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working with his hands, whether that was doing mechanical work or gardening.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two children, Jenelle married to Gerald Nolt, Mohnton, Eric married to Anna Messner, Coatesville, six grandchildren: Cameron, Kyle and Alison Nolt and John, Luke, and Paul Messner, and five siblings: Evelyn Messner, Donald married to Rhonda Messner, Kenneth Messner, Kevin Messner and Darrell married to Julia Messner.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kelvin Messner and a niece Devon Hynds.

His funeral will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Petra Church, 565 Airport Rd., New Holland with Pastor Ken Reinford officiating. Interment will follow in Petra Memorial Park. A viewing will be held at Petra on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, is in charge of arrangements.
