Melvin S. Nolt

Melvin S. Nolt, 92, formerly of New Holland, died early Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Golden Living, Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene E. (Smeltz) Nolt in 2008.

Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Reuben and Emma (Sauder) Nolt. He was a member of New Holland Mennonite Church where he was formerly a trustee and helped with the New Holland Early Learning Center.

Melvin worked in agriculture-related businesses, including sales and farming. Later he worked part time at Manheim Auto Auction.

Surviving are his children: Shirley Ludwig of Stone Harbor, NJ, Fred Nolt of Gap, Faye, married to Gerald Bender of Lancaster, Kathy, married to Rob Barr of East Petersburg, and Ken, married to Charlene Nolt of Landis, NC; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

His funeral will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the New Holland Mennonite Church, 18 Western Ave, New Holland, PA with Pastor Wayne Speigle officiating. Interment will be in New Holland Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 1 – 2 p.m. Kindly omit flowers.
