Mildred J. Horst

Mildred J. Horst, 85, of New Holland, formerly of Terre Hill, died Monday, April 27, 2015 at Garden Spot Village, New Holland.

Born in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Sadie (Good) Martin. She was married 65 years on Aug. 20 to Aaron M. Horst, Jr.

Mildred was a homemaker and a member of the Hinkletown Mennonite Church where she was active in the sewing circle. She enjoyed cooking but mostly her children and grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband are five children, Julia A., married to Allen Redcay of New Holland, Donna L. Horst of Lititz, Ronald L., married to LuAnn Horst of Lancaster, Robert L., married to Jeanne Horst of Harrisonburg, VA, and Sheila K., married to Perry Hoover of Elizabethtown; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; three brothers and a sister, Lewis Martin of Ephrata, Laura Weaver of Lititz, C. Edwin Martin of Bowmansville, and J. Donald Martin of Lebanon.

Preceding her in death is a granddaughter, Erika Leigh Horst; two sisters, Harriet Sensenig and Lillian Leaman; and two brothers, Eugene Martin and Horace Martin.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 1 at 11 AM at Hinkletown Mennonite Church, 2031 Division Hwy., Ephrata with the Reverend Glenn Sauder and Chaplain Chester Yoder officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 30 from 6-8 PM at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland.
