Mildred J. Ruth

Mildred J. “Midge” Ruth, 92 of New Holland, formerly of West Chester and Exton, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care in Mt. Joy.

Born in Upper Dublin, she was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Harriet (King) Gerbron and the wife of the late Rev. Howard H. Ruth. Her husband pastored Goshen Baptist Church in West Chester and died in Nov. 1991.

Midge was an English teacher from 1965 until 1975 for the West Chester Area School District. She attended the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lancaster and served 20 years on the board of America’s Keswick from 1991-2011. She enjoyed volunteering at Garden Spot Village, conducted many Bible studies, and served as a speaker at many retreats and conferences.

Surviving is a daughter, Jan, married to Jack Kane of Phoenixville; a son, Paul Ruth of Deptford, NJ; three grandchildren, Christy, Jeff, and Steven; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557 with the Chaplain Chester Yoder officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, address above, or to America’s Keswick, 601 County Road 530, Whiting, NJ 08759.
