Minerva H. Newswanger, 60, of 200 Patchwork Lane, Narvon, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Farmersville, she was the daughter of Mary Magdalena (Hurst) Martin of Trenton, KY and the late Wayne Martin. She was married 38 years on Dec. 11 to Eli L. Newswanger.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are nine children, David, married to Anna (Hoover) Newswanger, Erma, married to Stephen Weaver, Grace, married to Linus Fox, all of Hopkinsville, KY, Norma, married to Marcus Hoover of East Earl, Regina, married to Adin Hoover of Hopkinsville, KY, Paul Newswanger, Philip Newswanger, Almeta Newswanger, and Jeremiah Newswanger, all at home; 20 grandchildren; four brothers and a sister, Warren, married to Mabel (Reiff) Martin of Shelby, OH, Elias, married to Ada (Shirk) Martin of Latham, MO, Annetta, married to Edwin Shirk of Chula, MO, Wayne, married to Lena (Leid) Martin of Trenton, KY, and James, married to Norma (Hoover) Martin of Chula, MO.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 9 at 8:45 am at the late home with further services at 9:30 am at the Churchtown Mennonite Church with the Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the late home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Kindly omit flowers. Arrangements by Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.
