Nelda P. Sweigart

Nelda P. Sweigart, 90, of New Holland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Fairmount Homes, Ephrata.

Born in Christiana, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Jay and Mary J. (Harsh) Rodgers. Her husband, Howard L. Sweigart, died in 2012.

Nelda was a member of Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Circle Bible Study. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at the local polling stations during elections. She was also a member of the Lancaster General Hospital Nurse Alumni and the New Holland Town Clock Society. She enjoyed playing pinochle, reading and her favorite color was purple.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald R., married to Jo (Churgai) Rodgers of Easton, and Scott H., married to Christine (Saus) Sweigart of East Earl, three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and two brothers, A. Jay, married to Ellen Rodgers of Blue Ball, and Glenn A. Rodgers of New Holland.

Preceding her in death is a sister, Marie Usner.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 25 at 3 pm at Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church, 4833 Division Hwy., PO Box 96, East Earl, PA 17519 with the Reverend Dr. Krisana Poontajak officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2-3 pm.
